1、要早點聯繫推薦人。如果你早就決定出國學習,而且專業方向定下的話,在你幫助一位教授完成一個項目而你的表現也不錯的時候,及時地請教授寫一封推薦信當然是最好了。

或者是你申請教育學,而又剛剛在一所中學做了兩個月的實習教師,爲什麼不馬上請該校的校長或教導主任給你寫一封推薦信呢?這樣至少能保證到申請時推薦人不會忘了你做過什麼。如果你已經着手申請,至少要提前一兩個月和教授打招呼,給教授留充足的時間爲你寫推薦信,無論對於你趕申請期限,還是減輕推薦人壓力都是很有利的。。

2、主動給推薦人提供自己的詳細信息。爭取在推薦人着手寫推薦信之前和推薦人詳談一次,哪怕只有10分鐘,主要談談自己的學業成績和自己的目標,申請專業和方向。

同時最好提供一份自己的詳細簡歷,當然,如果你的自述信已經成稿或有草稿的話,可以一併提供。這樣便既可以使推薦人在推薦你時有的放矢,針對你申請的課程推薦,又可以避免推薦信過於泛泛而無實例的弊端。

3、推薦表VS推薦信。很多學校都有固定格式的推薦表,雖然是爲了方便推薦人,但實際上卻給中國的大部分推薦人帶來很多麻煩。如果你一下子申請20所學校,光填表也夠教授累的。

對於一些特別聲明用推薦表的學校,你儘量用推薦表,另外附上推薦信即可。而對於大部分學校,你都可以把自己要填的一部分,即申請方向或/和放棄閱讀的權利聲明,簽上字即可。而只要推薦信中包含推薦表中的內容,就可以直接附上籤過字的推薦信即可。

xxxx  served in the front office of our Financial Markets Department as a summer intern during the summer of 2008. During this period he demonstrated a precocious ability to complete assigned tasks, primarily the calculation of swap points and PnL using Excel tools, as well as monitoring trading positions and applying for approval to exceed trading limits.

Adam possessed both diligence and intelligence. Our front office used a number of interns that summer, some of whom possessed graduate degrees. Adam was the fastest learner among our interns and demonstrated the ability to immediately apply what he had learned in order to provide real assistance to us. He demonstrated a particularly advanced ability to understand exactly which questions to ask in order to clarify the nature of a task as well as the ability to cobble together different ideas in order to deepen his understanding of underlying processes. He also impressed everyone with his ability to work well with strangers, especially other interns. He helped some of the more introverted interns with less training to acquire basic financial skills and techniques. Adam was very popular with the staff he worked with. He strictly observed dealing room rules, communicated effectively with co-workers, and demonstrated a good command of the English language.

I cannot identify any major weaknesses in Adam’s performance or attitude, although I can identify a few minor ones. His lack of social experience compared with older interns is more than compensated for by his natural gregariousness. He does need to be somewhat more assertive in advancing his ideas before superiors. These minor weaknesses do not seriously affect my overall impression of him.

Based on his demonstrated talents and work performance, I conclude that an advanced degree in finance will greatly assist Adam in developing his considerable talents. We sincerely wish him success in both his studies and his professional endeavors.
