古時候的三江匯流處，水勢十分兇猛，過往的船隻經常發生事故。有一個叫海通的和尚大發慈悲之心，準備修一座彌勒佛，來鎮水患，於是他每天化緣。過了一些日子，化到了不少銀子。但當地有一位官員，見錢眼開，看到海通有這麼多銀子，便想敲詐一筆，沒想到海通說：“自目可刎 ，佛財難得。”意思是我可以把雙眼挖下來，你一分錢也休想拿到。那官員竟然說讓海通試一試，於是，海通便將眼珠用手挖了出來。那官員被嚇得半死，從此以後再也不找海通的麻煩了。海通便安下心來組織修大佛。在海通去世時，大佛才修到肩膀那兒，因爲海通去世，大佛便沒修了。直到後來，有兩個人捐了很多錢，才斷斷續續的把大佛修好了。

樂山大佛又名凌雲大佛，位於四川省樂山市南岷江東岸凌雲寺側，瀕大渡河、青衣江、岷江三江匯流處，與樂山城隔江相望。樂山大佛開鑿於唐代開元元年(713年)，完成於貞元十九年(803年)，歷時約九十年，是一個名叫海通的禪師爲了減殺水勢、普度衆生而發起，招集人力、物力修鑿的。南通禪師圓寂以後，工程被迫停止，多年後，先後由西川節度使章仇兼瓊和韋皋進行續建，直至唐德宗貞元十九年才竣工。近代有詩人盛讚說：“山是一尊佛，佛是一座山”，是世界上最大的摩崖石刻造像。

樂山大佛景區屬於峨眉—樂山大佛自然遺產保護區。四川的世界自然遺產豐富，目前，世界自然遺產有九寨溝、黃龍寺風景區和大熊貓棲息地，世界文化遺產有青城山和都江堰。四川唯一的世界自然與文化雙重遺產，就是我們現在看到的屬於峨眉山—樂山風景名勝區的樂山大佛。

今天，我們遊覽樂山大佛的線路是：先從樂山大佛正門進入景區，步行到凌雲寺，參觀大佛摩崖石刻造像。參觀完後，再步行至蘇園和東坡樓，再步行到碑林，最後參觀凌雲寺和遊覽靈寶塔。遊覽全程是一條環線，單進單出，請大家緊隨團隊，記住我的電話號碼，兩小時後我們在剛纔停車的位置集合。

好了，各位遊客朋友們，現在我們看到的是靈寶塔。棲鸞峯的凌雲寺和靈寶峯的靈寶塔，是除摩崖石刻造像以外，大佛景區至今保存規模最大的兩大古建。其中，靈寶塔可以說是大佛景區佛教文化的靈魂所在。靈寶塔又名凌雲塔，因其聳立在凌雲寺後的靈寶峯巔，故以山峯命名。根據山川形勢，修建此塔的目的，主要還是作爲三江合流處的標誌。高71米的大佛是爲了鎮水保平安，靈寶塔則作爲航船標誌，使船工提高注意力，以便安全渡過急流險灘。靈寶塔是嘉州古城的一座標誌，經四川省人民政府公佈爲文物保護單位。

古寺廟中，塔具有非凡的意義。在普通人眼中，《西遊記》中有名的“託塔李天王”最深入人心，這是將毗沙門拖託塔形象移到了唐初名將李靖身上，藉助中國四大名著，使“塔”這種文化植入到民衆心中，從此，中國建築與塔結緣。

佛塔，亦稱寶塔，原是印度梵文stupa(窣堵潑)的音譯，也稱浮屠，所謂“救人一命，勝造七級浮屠”就是中古領悟慈善文化的一種解讀。最早的佛塔是用來供奉、安置舍利、經卷和各種法物的。所以，許多佛塔會建有佛塔碑記、聖像、佛經等。根據佛教文獻記載，佛陀釋迦牟尼涅槃後火化形成舍利，被當地八個國王收取，分別建塔加以供奉。另外，還在釋迦牟尼一生中有紀念意義的八個地點建立了八個靈塔，這些塔都是有紀念意義的。早期的佛塔很簡單，就是一個半圓形的大土冢，完全是墳墓的形式。塔在漫長的發展過程中逐步藝術化，出現了各種形制的塔型，如西安的大小雁塔、杭州的六和塔、銀川的海寶塔、四川瀘州報恩塔、河南的鎮國塔等等，大家最熟悉的現存最大的塔是山西應縣的木塔。

大家不妨仔細看看：靈寶塔的制式屬於中國最常見的密檐式。有一副流傳很廣的對聯是這樣說的：遠眺高高寶塔，七層八角四方；近看平平手掌，五指二短三長。這裏，七層八角四方，就是密檐式塔的基本特徵。大家請看這座靈寶塔：塔基上面，第一層特別高，以上各層逐步收縮，空間越來越低矮，高度面闊愈往上收縮愈緊，各層塔檐緊密相接，所以叫做密檐塔。

從下往上看，這座靈寶塔的整體輪廓呈炮彈形。靈寶塔建於唐代，塔形呈密檐式四方錐體，堆砌而成，坐東向西，高38米，共有十三級，比之於我們前面所說的“七層八角四方”還要多出六個層級。、

塔層爲奇數，奇數爲陽數，含吉祥之意。根據佛教理論，第一層象徵“地”，第二層象徵“世間”，第三層象徵“三界”。每級都開有窗眼，這也是當年樂山地區經濟實力的體現。靈寶塔因體量大，塔體中空，塔內有石階沿着塔軸盤旋而上，遊人可以登至塔頂。塔頂爲四角攢尖形，使得靈寶塔看上去輕盈向上。靈寶塔除塔剎和基石之外，均以磚砌牆，這在唐朝時期並不多見。

靈寶塔具有很深奧的象徵意義。靈塔及陵寢，寶塔及三寶，有着特殊的佛教含義。高僧、**的遺體保存於這樣的靈塔之中，不僅體現了肉體復歸“四界”的佛教思想——土、火、水、空集於靈塔一身，使這四種屬性通過靈塔表現爲有形物質，可通過視覺觀察到的實體，象徵着出生——生活——死亡——精神——出生——的“生命之輪”，實現用無窮盡的輪迴。

大佛景區因爲有了靈寶塔，大佛更靈；凌雲山有了凌雲塔，山更增色。
