很多人會覺得I see 與 I know 都是“我明白，我知道”的意思，兩者可以互換使用，有什麼區別呢？其實兩者間還是有微小的區別的。

I see 側重指說話方所說的內容聽者之前並不知道，經由對方說過後方瞭解情況。如：

A：Tom is absent today, he is ill.

B：I see.

A：湯姆今天沒來，他病了。

B：我知道了。/我明白了。

（說話方在向聽者傳遞“湯姆生病了所以沒來”這個信息，聽者之前並不知道湯姆病了，由說話方一說，便了解了情況，回答時有“原來如此”的意味在裏面） I know 側重指說話方所說的內容聽者原來便了解，經由說話方一說，便迴應一下表示瞭解情況。如：

know的用法1：know的基本意思是“知道”“認識”“聽說”，指直接瞭解某事物，也可表示“領會，懂得”，指通過體驗或傳授而獲得知識。
