lan and fred

lan and fred were boys. they were both twelve years old, and they were in the same class in their school. last friday afternoon they had a fight in class, and their teacher was very angry. he said to both of them, “stay here after the lessons this afternoon, and write your names a thousand times.” after the last lesson, all the other boys went home, but lan and fred stayed in the classroom with their teacher and begin writing their names.

then fred began crying.

the teacher looked at him and said,” why are you crying, fred?”

“because his name’s lan may, and mine’s frederick hollingsworth,” fred said.

most of the students will go to their classroom or friends when in trouble they're almost of the same age, so they can talk with and understand each other easily. some students will tell their teachers or parents about their troupes and ask for their help as the teachers and parents have rich

experience and love them very much. they can be trusted by these students. only a few students solve their problems all by themselves. they hate to talk with others and can’t get on well with others. they have few friends.

in my opinion, when in trouble we’d better ask our teachers, parent, friends or classmates for help.

today was sunday. today was september 30th, 2014. it was a boring day. it was hot. i was not a work.

i watched tv all morning. the shows were boring. then i called my friend, nancy. she wasn’t at home. i didn’t know where she was.

at twelve i was hungry. there was not any food in the fridge. i was lazy. i was tired. then i ate lunch outside. at one o’clock. i was in bed. in the afternoon i was at the movies. the film was boring. i'm glad tomorrow is monday. i can go to school and see my friends.

it’s really my great pleasure to be here. just now, off the stage, i was wondering if i could present well here, but now in the spotlight, i am not that nervous, and all i want to show you is my personality and confidence. at first, i will introduce myself. i am from class 4, grade 9. my name’s…. i like …my favorite subject is english.

next i’d like to talk about “how to improve our english”. to be honest, i’m really happy to stand here and say something about learning english, even if i’m only a beginner of english.

as everybody knows, english is an international language. what’s more, china has entered the wto. therefore it’s necessary for us to learn it. but you may ask how i can improve my english?well, i have some useful suggestions that i’d like to share（分享） with you.

firstly, make sure that you pay enough attention to your pronunciation and intonation. otherwise, you might make

yourself a laughing stock. for example,“can i use your bike?” if you say,“can i use your back?” “pass me the case, please.” you say, “pass me the kiss, please.” here you mispronounced the two words “bike”and “case” will certainly cause

misunderstanding. besides, tones of different voice can also mean difference. for instance,“london bridge is falling down, falling down, my fair lady!” it means you are excited ! now listen again: “london bridge is falling down, falling down, my fair lady!” it shows you are so sad, right?

secondly, practice makes perfect. don’t be afraid to make mistakes when you practice speaking english. on the one

hand, you will learn from them, on the other hand, no one can

avoid （避免）making mistakes, so don’t be shy, try to be brave and speak up !

also, i think that doing lots of listening practice is one of the secrets of becoming a good language learner. in your

finally, in order to improve our english, we need to be patient . anyway, learning english takes time, so you must have a strong will and enough patience. remember: rome was not built in a day !

大家好！今天我演講的題目是：如何提高我們的英文。說真的，我非常高興在這裏說一說關於學英語的事情，儘管我只是英語的初學者。

大家都知道，英語是一門國際性的語言，尤其是中國已加入了wto，學英語對我們來說是格外必要的。但是你可能會問：“如何才能提高我們的英語呢？”那好，接下來我便給大家說一說提高英語的捷徑。

首先，你應確信你已在發音技巧和語音方面下了很多功夫。否則，你將會鬧出很多笑話。例如“我可以借一下你的自行車嗎？”而你說成“我可以借一下你的後背嗎？”“請遞給我那個箱子”而由於你的錯誤發音，竟說成“請給我一個吻吧。”很顯然，在這兩個句子中你讀錯了“自行車”和“盒子”這兩個詞，而對方也就自然誤解了你的意思。另外，語調的不同也可表達着不同的感情，舉個例子：倫敦橋塌了！倫敦橋塌了！我的夫人！（聲音高昂，表示高興）倫敦橋塌了！倫敦橋塌了！我的夫人！（聲音低沉，表示悲傷）

其次，大家都知道：熟能生巧。當你在說英語時不要怕犯錯誤。一方面，沒有人會不犯錯誤的。另一方面你可以從錯誤中總結教訓，所以千萬不要害羞，勇敢地大聲說出來！

最後，爲了能夠達到成功的頂峯，我們必須要有耐心。無論怎麼說，學英語總是要花費時間的，所以你必須要有足夠的勇氣和一顆“永不言敗”的心。要牢牢地記住這句名言“羅馬不是一天造成的！”
